Such programs often offer exchangeable points every time a user downloads an app, surf the net, play a game, make a purchase on online store as a form of cash-back. It is possible to make or save quite a hefty amount of money if you are constantly at it. And people actually do use their phone to receive some financial benefits using their spare time. Today I will show you 3 of the best ways through which you can earn money by using your smartphone.

How To Make Money with a Smartphone

#1 Surfing the Web

If you open any sort of a social media application on your phone, you can easily spend hours on it, without realizing where the time went. If you are someone who does this a lot of the time, then here’s the good news for you. You can make some money by scrolling through a few of the applications designed for this purpose. All you need to do is download them and start scrolling through them. That is all you would have to do, in return for money or redeem the points. Here are some of these applications that are worth trying.

Swagbucks

Swagbucks

Swagbucks is one of the most popular apps this day. In the past 12 months or so Swagbucks has become widely available across the continents.

Downloading the application is free, and you can start surfing as soon as you sign up. You can shop on it, answer surveys, or even watch videos. In return for all this, you would either be paid cash transferred to your PayPal, or you would be given gift cards which you can redeem. Also accessible from a desktop via browser.

You can also refer your friends to join Swagbucks and earn 10% of their earnings for the life of their account. If each of your referrals earns 300 points in their first month, you will also earn 300 points.

There are many new "surveys for cash" sites around but most of them pay very little and waste a lot of your time. Whereas Swagbucks is more than a surveys-for-cash site, well established and reliable. Users of this application have earned over $250 million (continuously growing) since it has been launched. So do give this a thought!

CashPirate

CashPirate is another application where you can earn points by playing games, watching advertisements, or fill in surveys. Once you complete a task that was given to you given points which can be converted to rewards including cash. The gift card rewards include Amazon, iTunes, Steam, Google Play, Xbox and more. Whereas the cash rewards can be transferred to your PayPal account.

You can also invite friends to join CashPirate and receive benefits; 10% of your referral’s earnings and 5% of their referrals’ earnings. Your referrals will receive 500 bonus coins upon signing up.

* 2020 update: CashPirate is unfortunately no longer in operation.

#2 Shop and Get Some Money Back

If you enjoy shopping and shop online, then there is a fantastic chance for you to earn cash while you do so. Whether you shop for your groceries, clothes, toiletries or any other item, you can pay for these items through specific applications. All you need to start with is to download the apps and follow the instructions to shop and earn at the same time. Here are some of these applications.

Ibotta

Ibotta

Ibotta is unique. When you bought products from the selected store, you need to take a photo of your receipt, then Ibotta will match the items you bought to the offers you selected, and give you cash back. The shops include big brands such as Amazon, Walmart, Stitch Fix, Jet, iTunes, Hotels.com, Groupon, Groupon, eBay, and many more.

Currently only available in the USA, Ibotta also runs sweepstakes and offers giveaways. It also offers "stackable" bonuses. If you purchase a few items during the specific bonus period, but leave a few days of interval between each purchase, you'll receive extra redemption rates.

You can get the cash out through your Paypal account, but make sure you have earned at least $5 before you can take it out.

Shopkick

Shopkick

Shopkick is quite an interesting application. Go to any shop on the list; you might already be going to them and just scan the barcodes on the items. You will be getting points for every time you scan a code. These points can then be used to get cards to any of your favorite shops or brands. The downside is you cannot turn your points into cash. But that does not mean you are not earning! You are getting cards which you can use the purchase of different items.

#3 Sell Online

Another way to make money with a smartphone is to sell items in your house that are no longer in use. It is ideal because these buy/sell marketplace apps allow you to take a photo of the item you want to sell, and upload the photo directly onto your account, which saves your time.

eBay is probably the most popular marketplace but it lists a mixture of brand new goods and used goods. Also, it has so many "power sellers" who are drop shippers, therefore, it's not necessarily the easiest place to sell your unwanted goods. Here are a couple of apps that allow you to sell things you no longer use.

Poshmark

Poshmark

If you are looking to sell your clothing, accessories, shoes, makeup and even swimwear and underwear, Poshmark is one of the best sites/apps to try. (Only available in the US.) When you've created your account, take photos of the item to sell, put the title, description (brand, size, etc) and post it. This is a very popular app. You can purchase items on this site, at times with items being sold at 70% less than the item would be retailed at. Depending on the item that you list, it is possible for it to be sold within minutes at times.

Great thing about Poshmark is that, it will provide you with a pre-paid, pre-addressed label ready to be put on the box. You just need to package your item and drop it off at a USPS mailbox or even have it picked up for free from your home. So there is no hassle. Poshmark retains 20% off the price and gives you the remaining 80% of the sold price. So just gather the clothing that you no longer wear, and start selling them at Poshmark.

Depop

Depop

Depop is another one of the “snap and sells” applications. However, they only have a fee of 10% as compared to Poshmark. You can sell collectibles, accessories, and other items on it as well. This is an ideal platform for Instagrammers for having flash sales. You just have to take a picture of your times, post it, and sell it. Easy money, isn’t it?

Here we told you just some ways via which you can earn through your smartphone. Just make sure your camera is good if you want to sell items, and have a good network. All this and you are good to remove all that unnecessary junk lying around in your house.
