AI content writers have been churning out thousands of useless articles, blog posts, and reports nowadays. Are they shaking things up in the writing industry? Sure.
I'm as sick and tired as you are of seeing the same old phrases peppered throughout AI-generated content. You know the ones I'm talking about...
It's Not About... It's About
"This isn't just about boring the reader to tears, but it's also about originality."
AI says;
The phrase "It's not about... it's about..." is often used to refocus the reader's attention from a common misconception to a deeper, more insightful understanding. It's a rhetorical device that helps clarify priorities, values, or core aspects of an issue, making the explanation more compelling and memorable.
Not really making sense. It's so annoying when we see this phrase every couple of paragraphs. It often uses it to fluff.
Veganism is not just about staying away from meat or fish, but it's about embracing the animal welfare issues...
Embracing
Embrace this, embrace that... The problem is, AI writers are trained to be politically correct, so it suggests that anything generally acceptable should be "embraced."
The problem is that there aren't many words that can replace the word "embrace". Embrace your quirkiness. Embrace the challenges. Embrace your life...
Okay AI, if you keep wetting yourself in a public area, should you embrace your personality?
Wetting yourself in public is a sign of a potential medical issue or an incontinence problem. Embracing it as a personality trait wouldn't be the best course of action. Here's why...
Hey AI, do you like McDonald's?
As a large language model, I don't have personal preferences like taste. However, I can tell you that I'm not just lovin' it, I'm embracin' it.
Important, Crucial, Essential, Vital
According to AI, everything that you "should do" is either important, crucial, essential, or vital. If you wet yourself, it's important to seek help from a medical professional.
Engaging
Do you like to eat out with your friends? Yes?
You mean, you enjoy engaging with your friends over a meal, because you like the social aspect of eating out with individuals?
"Hey, welcome to our LGBTQA communi..."
"LGBTQAEI."
"What?"
"It's new. E.I. Extraterrestrial Individual, should now be added."
Individual/Individuals
Wouldn't you be offended if someone refers to you as "this individual" instead of he/she/they? Why can't AI say "people"?
"Individual" can be seen as a more neutral term compared to "people" which can have a broader social connotation. The AI might default to the neutral option to avoid unintended bias. However, using "individuals" too frequently can make the writing sound robotic and impersonal.
As much as it sounds rubbish, it does make sense if you take fictional characters and aliens into account.
When dogs and penguins speak, they're not people. Suppose some survey questions are answered by extraterrestrial Intelligence, you cannot say "65% of people are happy with their home economy." Yes, aliens. What do you say?
"It's not just about conspiracy theories, it's about inclusivity."
Efficiently and Effectively
These two words are classic. Credit cards help us shop effectively. Microwave ovens cook efficiently. Of course they do. Smart people avoid using either of these "zero-quality" words unless they can follow it up by explaining it with an example.
Any AI-generated topic can be concluded with the word efficient or effective, because it's supposed to provide positive pieces of information and these words are positive, but super-convenient words that used by lazy...individuals!
Significant
This is another annoying one. "A lot" has to be "significant".
I consumed a significant volume of lunch. However, I spent a significant length of time engaging in physical activities this afternoon so individuals would not call me a fat old b*****d.
Audience and "Potential" Customer
If you come across with business-related content, you must be sick as a vomit of hearing this word - audience. Engage with your audience. You need to understand your audience. The audience's needs (and wants!)
All those business how-to guides are about growth hacking, so they talk a lot about people who "potentially" become your customers. They're not your customers yet, so the word potential has to be added. And your potential customers are observing your business, so they're your audience. Audience this, audience that.
"Are you my customer?"
"No."
"Potential customer then."
"I don't have any money. Ask my parents."
"So you're my audience?"
"Can I just speak to a human?"
Balancing Act
Balancing act. Balancing is key.
A lot of things in life has the good and the bad. AI content provides pros/good and cons/bad, then conclude.
You should exercise regularly, but you shouldn't exercise too much, so the balancing is key. You should try your best, but don't try too hard otherwise you'll burn out. The balancing act is vital. It's another fluff, isn't it?
Navigating
AI writer's another favorite lazy word is "navigating".
It means "finding a way around". It means "dealing with". It means "to check something." So you can use the word in a very broad sense. AI content generator heavily uses this word like a parrot. Navigate challenges. Navigate life.
Game-Changer
Again, AI is supposed to provide good information to make users' life better. Anything new - new gadget, new device, new method, new social network - is a "game-changer" according to AI. If not revolutionalize the trends...
Digital Age
I think this phrase sounds rather embarrassing.
- "In this digital age/era"
- "The age of digital transformation"
- "The digital landscape"
- "The rapidly-changing digital world"
Don't these expressions make your stomach cringe? Are they still partying like it's 1999? 'Cause they say, 2000-zero-zero, party over, oops, out of time?
Consistence Is Key
Another stupid, annoying expression that AI writers heavily use. Is there anything in the world that you should be doing inconsistently? And why does it have to be "key"?
More Than Just Words: Embarking On an AI Writing Journey
Let's just let AI conclude it all.
"The journey into AI writing transcends mere words; it's a venture into the synergy of human creativity and machine intelligence. This collaboration offers a window into endless possibilities where AI not only mimics human writing styles but also infuses its creations with nuances and insights gleaned from vast data analyses.
As we explore this partnership, we're not just observers but active participants shaping the narrative. The potential for personalized storytelling, content creation at scale, and unlocking new forms of expression is immense.
This journey challenges our understanding of authorship and creativity, pushing us towards a future where the art of writing is transformed and expanded in ways we're just beginning to comprehend."
Did you understand any of it? I didn't.
