Can You Make Money With Threads?

As you may already be aware, Instagram Threads app has taken the digital world by storm, threatening Twitter's reign as the go-to platform for real-time updates. With its simple design, enhanced privacy controls, and seamless integration with Instagram, Threads offers a whole new level of communication possibilities. But can you actually make money with Threads?

Can You Make Money With Threads?

What Is The Threads App?

Threads is created and owned by Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta Platforms. It’s their version of Twitter, allowing users to post short messages to connect with their followers. Threads allow you to post up to 500 characters at a time instead of 280 characters that Twitter currently offers.

Is It Any Good?

Threads is very basic and therefore, there’s no way it can beat Twitter in terms of the features right now. For example, it lacks features that Twitter currently have such as;

  • GIF templates
  • Polls
  • Access from desktop
  • Access from a browser

All you can do is type your message and embed images that are already saved in your phone. A text-only post is bland and so easy to miss, so you want to add an image. But there’s a limited ability there. If you want to attach a GIF image to your post, you’d have to either create one yourself or google to find someone else’s GIF image and save it before you can attach it.

In terms of engaging, it’s more or less the same. You can “like” someone else’s post and repost it like retweet.

Can You Make Money With Threads?

You can make money through Threads app. Just like any other social media but unlike Instagram, Threads allows you to post a link to any sales page. So you can promote your products by posting a link with a relevant message to your followers. Thread also allows you to place multiple links in your profile section, so you can always prompt viewers to click them in your post.

Obviously, you are expected to build a number of responsive followers to increase your visibility and reach. Earning money solely from having followers is not guaranteed or effortless.

Does Threads Allow Affiliate Links?

Yes, right now, Threads allows the use of affiliate links in posts and the user profile section. However, any social media platform policies can change over time. To get the most accurate and up-to-date information on Threads’ policies regarding affiliate links, I recommend referring to Meta’s official documentation or contacting support directly for the latest guidelines.

What’s Good About Threads?

Threads app has made quite the splash in the social media world, debuting with a staggering 80 million users within the first 48 hours. This shows just how eager people are to try out this new platform and see what it has to offer.

The debut success raises questions about whether it poses a threat to Twitter's reign as the go-to platform for real-time updates and conversations. With Elon Musk's unpredictable behavior causing volatility on Twitter, many people may be looking for an alternative space where they can connect without being exposed to such disruptions.

One benefit of using Threads is its integration with Instagram. As an extension of Instagram's messaging capabilities, Threads seamlessly connects users within their existing network while providing additional features tailored specifically for close friends.

Porn-Free

Threads, is a product of Meta, therefore it’s much more strict when it comes to the censorship. It doesn’t allow you to post sexually explicit video content, not even just a full-frontal nude. Whereas Twitter is quite relaxed about it - although it's supposed to be banned, users are easily able to post sexually explicit materials (until reported by other users and removed.)

Is Threads Better Than Twitter?

Yes and no. For all the above reasons, whether Threads is better than Twitter or not depends on how you see it. Twitter is popular for what it does - limited character use but has some entertainment values such as thousands of GIF image templates and the poll feature.

Theads doesn’t have any of that - just yet. You may find it “better” because simplicity often speaks itself. Too many functionalities kill sometimes.

Whereas many users go for Twitter purely because it allows them to post ready-made GIF images of celebrities dancing crazy.

Likewise, some Twitter users appreciate the adult content, whereas Threads users may appreciate the parental control aspects of it.

What Not To Do With Threads To Make Money

Making money with Threads may open up exciting opportunities for businesses and influencers alike. However, the common mistake that beginner online marketers make is to spam. They think spamming is to overwhelm others by sending the same message repetitively, otherwise they can do anything they want - that’s clearly not the case.

Spam

Not listening to other users and recommending your products (either your own or multiple affiliate products) over and over again is spammy enough. So here are the things you shouldn’t do on Threads - or on any other social networks, really;

  • DO NOT engage in excessive self-promotion: While it's acceptable to share your own content or achievements occasionally, avoid constant self-promotion. Social users in generally prefer a balanced mix of informative, entertaining, and promotional content.
  • DO NOT get involved in unnecessary arguments: Threads can be a platform for lively discussions - “threads”! - but avoid getting involved in heated arguments or online confrontations. Engage in respectful conversations and be mindful of others' opinions.
  • DO NOT post excessively: Don't bombard your followers' timelines with a high volume of posts in a short period. Space out your posts and maintain a reasonable frequency to avoid overwhelming your audience.
  • DO NOT neglect proofreading: It's essential to proofread before posting them because right now, Thread does not have a facility to edit once posted. Spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, or unclear messages can harm your credibility. Take a moment to review your post for clarity and accuracy.
  • DO NOT ignore engagement: When people engage with your thread by commenting, liking, or reposting, make an effort to respond and acknowledge them. Ignoring engagement can give the impression of disinterest or lack of appreciation.
  • DO NOT share private or sensitive information: Avoid sharing personal or sensitive information that could compromise your privacy or security. Be cautious about sharing details like your address, phone number, or financial information.
